April/May Newsletter
Message from the Chair
Recently, IMPACT's Board of Directors visited our newly constructed Commercial Laundry facility at 4 Inglis Court, Bundaberg. New Image Laundry Manager Danny Leary provided the Directors with a tour of the facility including it’s state of the art equipment from Germany and provided an update on current operations.

Our new Laundry has increased capacity to process all commercial and domestic linen services throughout Bundaberg and surrounds including but not limited to hospitality, Healthcare and Medical, Hotels, Motels and Hostels, Aged Care and also has linen available for hire.

With the Board’s endorsement, in 2014 IMPACT purchased a drive thru laundry business situated on Princess Street. What started out with four employees processing 1 1/2 tonnes of laundry a month, increased to nine employees processing 13 tonnes per month. When a gap in local commercial laundry services was identified, and as the drive through laundry premises reached capacity, IMPACT identified an opportunity to construct its own fit for purpose facility. With the support of $900k from the Federal Government, IMPACT purchased vacant land at 4 Inglis Court, and constructed a $2.5 million facility with the vision to employ 25 people within the first five years.

IMPACT endeavours to always provide opportunities to lead the community in pioneering improved life opportunities, empowering individuals to improve resilience and increase social and economic participation. The New iMage Laundry embodies a supportive working environment for less skilled workers and/or people with a disability or mental illness and creates a supportive environment for workers to increase the likelihood they will remain employed or transition into other employment as they grow and develop the skills to maintain and develop employment pathways.

The Board of Directors have been advocates of the New iMage Laundry expansion and are proud that the vision has come to a realisation.”

Congratulations Neil On A Very Deserved Award

On Saturday 26 May I had the pleasure of attending the prestigious Bundaberg Region Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2018 along with an incredible cross section of Bundaberg's leading businesses. IMPACT Community Services was well represented with a full table including our CE, Senior Managers and staff.

IMPACT Community Services Deputy Chair Neil McPhillips was very fittingly bestowed the Bundaberg Region Chamber President’s Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the region’s economic development in both business and tourism over many years.

"Congratulations Neil on your very deserved award.”

Burnett Office Relocates
Our Burnett office has moved! In a decision to strengthen the delivery of mental health recovery services in the area, we now share with Partners in Recovery from the Toowoomba region. The relocation also adds value in delivering NDIS through the North and South Burnett regions; is in close proximity to a range public schools; and surrounds other not-for-profit organisations such as two Endeavour Foundations hubs.

You can find the new IMPACT Burnett office at 25a Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy.

Another Business Finds Success with Employment First Aid
Recruiting, training and onboarding the appropriate staff to meet all of their expectations in a short period of time. They were struggling to find lifeguards who were not only aware of the dangers of the aquatic environment, but were also confident, approachable and flexible with the seasons.

After seeking assistance this year, EFA acted as a mediator, a trainer, and a HR assistant, letting the business concentrate on themselves without worrying about employee concerns.
EFA have helped ensure A&F’s newest and youngest employees understand the high expectations placed upon them by taking an important role within this organisation.

“We are truly grateful for the assistance EFA have provided, even as a sounding board and a support network for employers and our employees this season.”

Barbeques Galore Offer Job Seekers Advice
Our valued business partners, David and Noreen from Barbeques Galore Bundaberg, met with local job seekers at IMPACT to offer a few tips and tricks in the workplace, giving an edge in a competitive local jobs market.
They spoke of the importance of positive attitude, proactive work ethic, interview tactics and general advice on how to be a good employee from an employer’s point of view. We thank them for their time and hope our job seekers take their advice on board!
