Students Celebrate Graduation Success
The corridors of IMPACT Community Services were abuzz with excitement on March 1st, as students graduated from Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) and Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).

These students had studied diligently for 18 weeks including completing a Vocational Placement in industry of at least 120 hours. Trainers, Wayne Morden and Sandy Baker, were thrilled to see the students so overjoyed and proud of their achievements.

Of the total of 28 graduates, 23 have already commenced work. Sandy said “It is so rewarding to see the change in these students from Day 1 where they are often nervous and anxious, to Graduation where they are confident and ready to commence an exciting new chapter in their lives. As trainers, our reward is witnessing the students’ development.”

IMPACT Community Services will commence courses in the near future:

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) 15 MAY 2018
Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community) 28 MAY 2018
Certificate III in Hospitality 21 MAY 2018

Please call on 0741 534233 to enquire about these or future courses and to discuss eligibility for subsidised funding.

This training is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

Get Set for Work kicks off
IMPACT Community Services is excited to be delivering another Get Set for Work program.

Get Set for Work funds not-for-profit community-based organisations to deliver intensive employment and training assistance over 12 months to young, disengaged Queenslanders aged 15-19 years.  Participants will gain skills and confidence to enter the workforce, go on to further training or go back and complete school. This program is for those who are keen to work and just need that helping hand to achieve their goals. Our Youth Worker, Lynda, has a wealth of knowledge and really enjoys helping young people develop skills and confidence through working with them in a group and on an individual basis. Get Set for Work runs for three days each week over 12 months. If you are keen to take up this opportunity or know anyone who could benefit from this mentoring and training, please call Lynda on 07 41 534233.

This Skilling Queenslanders for Work project is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.

Intensive Family Support (IFS) launches in the region
IMPACT’s Intensive Family Support initiative, (IFS) will work in partnership with parents and family members to promote and foster improved parenting practices by supporting activities and interventions that improve the parent’s ability to build capacity to safely care for and nurture their children.

The service will provide family centred intensive intervention and support, counselling and mentoring and skills development to families with children at risk of harm and removal to out of home care. IFS will strengthen the family as a unit, minimise out of home care occurrences and help ensure a safe, caring and supportive environment for children.  We now have a dedicated team working in Bundaberg and surrounds.  Call now on 4153 4233 if you would like any more information.

Harmony Day 2018

It was a day to honour and recognise the regions multiculturalism and for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, to reflect on their heritage.

Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.  In conjunction with Wyld Projects, IMPACT hosted a morning session where young people were taken on a tour of the region and met with various agricultural producers.
