We're Ready For NDIS
NDIS – We’re sure you’ve heard these four letters a fair bit lately, but what do they mean? and what does that mean for you!
NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and for people in Bundaberg it means we’re preparing for an October 2017 roll out of new services for people with a disability or who are experiencing mental health. Mark Davidson is our NDIS Transition Manager and he’s now ready to answer all your questions.
Mark will work with current and future IMPACT participants to ensure their NDIS Transition is a smooth process. “There is a lot to learn about NDIS and we don’t expect everyone to understand it clearly straight away,” said Mark. “It’s okay to have questions. NDIS is about getting the right supports for your individual situation, so it is different for every person. We want to ensure IMPACT is ready for the October NDIS Bundaberg Region commencement, but more importantly we want you to know what is available to help you.”
Supporting Mark is a team of NDIS ready staff from a range of our services who can help. Feel free to talk to Mark, Steve, Michelle, Joanne or Fiona about your NDIS queries.

Team Building With Taekwondo
While our youth program - Get Set for Work - is all about participants learning fundamental skills, we also engage in team building activities like Taekwondo. “The core principals of Taekwondo teach respect and discipline, two crucial aspects to adapting to a new workplace and maintaining employment,” said Get Set for Work Youth Officer, Sandra.

Get Set for Work offers young people an individualised service to help them maintain education, participate in training and improve their employment prospects. The support we offer includes one-on-one assistance and group activities to improve skills, develop goals, and build effective networks in the community.  If you are aged between 15-19 years old, or know someone who needs more assistance, talk to Sandra to get them started.

The Transition Is Terrific

Warwick started in the Transition to Work (TTW) program in March 2016, and his transition and transformation has been outstanding.
“I was very nervous when I first came in, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into,” said Warwick. “So much has changed for me since starting in this program. I am definitely more confident, more sociable, I’ve improved my health, and have improved my employability.” TTW Team Leader Laura said Warwick has worked hard and now he can feel the difference. “We can see his self-esteem has improved, he is happy to come in and say hi, and we believe he has a very bright future ahead of him. We’ve addressed barriers like health (diabetes management/healthy eating), literacy/numeracy, presentation, and he even had a haircut here one day.”

If you're aged 15-19 and need more support to find a job, contact our TTW team today.
