Experience Matters
"I know I have not been volunteering with your organisation for long, but please know I have enjoyed every bit of it. I have loved gaining experience working with the homeless population as well as working in a
team environment - skills and knowledge I will definitely need in my career as a social worker. Your organisation has given me a chance to give back to the community and help those in need, and I am so grateful for this experience. If I am ever back in Bundy I hope I can send you an email and join the team again!"
Sinead has been a valued member of our Street Outreach team and we've loved having her along on our weekly outreach. If you'd like to know more about this service please contact us.

Making New Friends
Kim and Greg, (pictured) are only new to the Bundaberg region but they couldn't wait to get stuck into helping the community in as many ways as they could. They heard Tanya, our Chief Executive, talking to Billy
Healy on his Wide Bay Today show on 4BU about the popular volunteering program - the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) and knew it was exactly what they were looking for.
"We've recently retired and moved to beautiful Bargara for a sea change and just knew we could offer something back to community," Greg said. "We feel like we've been played a pretty fair hand in this life and now it's our turn to give back. My father was in an aged home before he passed away about a year ago and I got to see how lonely some people are, they have no friends or families come to visit, so the CVS program sounded like a great way to help someone. It feels like it will be a small contribution for a huge return, especially when it makes someone happy."
CVS is a volunteering program that matches community volunteers with a person in an aged care home who does not have a regular visitor. he program has been operating from IMPACT for more than 20 years and has proven time and time again that small efforts and making friends can make a big impact on someone's life.
If you would like to know more about this wonderful opportunity please call Heather on 4153 4233 or go to our website www.impact.org.au/our-services/grow/volunteering/community-visitors-scheme

Meet Fiona
Fiona joins our team as the new Disability Services Manager. Her experience includes working in the Community Aged Care and Disability Services sectors. She has worked directly with participants transitioning to
NDIS funding in Supported Accommodation, Day Programs and Independent Living Programs. She began her career in Geelong, Victoria before relocating to the Bundaberg area with her family. Fiona said she is enjoying IMPACT as well as her new property.
"I have been truly welcomed into the IMPACT family. They've made settling into a new job much easier. I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge of the NDIS and what it means to our local people," Fiona said. "When we moved up to the area we bought a mountain, yep a mountain; and now we're learning the ropes of being hobby farmers to sheep, pigs and chickens. I love the Queensland heat too, so I'm really enjoying it right now."
